First 100 Paintings
Here’s Painting #1:

Painting #1 Thanks to Unicef artist
I saw an artist’s blog that really gave me courage. His name is Jeff Mahorney …and he took Kevin MacPherson’s advice to put in the miles on the canvas as the only way to improve. So he committed to 100 plus paintings in a year and posted them. If you are just starting out, like me, go see. His paintings are now absolutely breathtaking. I now cannot wait to get to 101.
So here we go. When my barn burned down in 2008, my dearest second mom sent me a card of encouragement. And something about the watercolor on the Unicef card struck a chord in me and I knew I wanted to paint it. It described how I felt EXACTLY: at an impassable point with mountains to climb. But I had my little dog for comfort.
Serendipity (the gift of find things not sought for) is rampant in my life, and this little card made me pick up my paints again after 35 years. And I remembered how color and expression can heal.
