Paintings #12-13-First Dog Portraits
2009 brought me to painting dogs, sadly because a few left us. My daughter’s friend raised a beautiful blond from a pup and gave her 14 wonderful-life years. I had never painted a dog portrait before but thought, why not? Lots of repainting later, I was happy with it. Her name was Maryland, because she was a platinum blond lab, and had long blond eyelashes, and spelled Maryland because her daddy is a U of MD fan.
And then there was my own Samantha’s passing. She was a “confectioner’s delight”, soft and pastel colored and the sweetest personality.
